Two-thirds of people won't buy in the next year |

| Two-thirds of UK people appear unlikely to buy a property in the next 12 months, a new poll has revealed today (June 5th). Confidence in the housing market has plummeted of late, with falling sales and prices plus rising inflation and the global credit crunch all contributing. And now a survey by the website MyFinances.co.uk has suggested that just nine per cent of people will buy in the coming year, with a further quarter claiming to be undecided on the issue. The figures also make grim reading for potential first-time buyers, with only 5.6 per cent saying they expect to be in a position to make a purchase in the next 12 months. There was also a near-unanimous verdict on the imminent future of house prices, with 94 per cent forecasting further falls and six per cent suggesting they will remain steady. In addition, a relatively large 24 per cent said they are anticipating prices to drop by between ten and 15 per cent, while nine per cent are predicting falls of over 20 per cent. ![]() |
