Thousands of new Manchester homes to be built |

| Thousands of new homes are set to be built in the heart of Manchester after plans for the city centre 'suburbia' were given the green light by planning officials. Coming soon after the city lost out on its planned supercasino project, which would have also seen hundreds of homes constructed in the east of Manchester, it has now been announced that 4,300 new homes are to be built on a site between Great Ancoats Street, Sportcity and Miles Platting. This will mean that many more people will be given the opportunity to rent a property close to the centre of one of the UK's most vibrant cities. In addition to the new houses, the project will also see the construction of a new primary school, a number of shops, bars and restaurants, 'village squares' and a Metrolink tram stop. The £1 billion project will take place over the next 15 years and represents the largest planning application ever to be approved in Manchester. ![]() |
