Tenants 'can ease financial pressures by improving energy efficiency' |

| People living in rented accommodation can reduce their outgoings by adopting a greener lifestyle, it has been claimed. According to Marie Reynolds, spokesperson for Friends of the Earth (FoE), rising fuel, food and energy prices are putting pressure on homeowners to reduce costs. One of the ways in which they can do this, Ms Reynolds suggests, is by increasing their home's energy efficiency. "With mounting concern about rising fuel prices and the slowdown in the economy, a more energy efficient home will save a small fortune in bills," she commented. "Many green actions are cheap, simple and straightforward. Some other measures may require some initial investment - but many will repay their costs through lower bills." Website energysavingadvice.co.uk has listed a number of ways in which homeowners can reduce bills by becoming more environmentally-friendly. These measures include installing an energy efficient freezer and an energy-efficient washing machine. ![]() |
