Tenants advised of digital TV rights |

| Alongside providing basic needs, landlords of rental properties will be legally required to ensure that they provide digital-ready televisions for their tenants. With the digital switchover due to kick off across the country in 2008, the National Landlords Association has advised its members to make the preparations, while tenants should know their rights under the new initiative. "Any landlord who rents out a property which relies on a communal television system must ensure that the necessary steps are taken to make the switch to digital," said David Salusbury, chairman of the NLA "Landlords have a legal responsibility to provide basic services to their tenants, and digital television capability comes under this remit," he added. While those renting properties from the start of next year have been advised to ensure that their landlord provides a digital-ready television system, it is expected that the switchover will be relatively trouble-free as people buy new TVs over the next three years. ![]() |
