TDP benefits tenants |

| A year on from the launch of Tenancy Deposit Protection (TDP) and the scheme has been hailed as a "success". The National Landlords Association (NLA) believes that the introduction of TDP has benefited both landlords and tenants. As of April 6th 2007, landlords with assured short-hold tenancy agreements in England and Wales were required by law to protect their tenant's deposit in a TDP scheme. The NLA said that the move has led to improved relations between landlords and tenants and has been beneficial to both parties. "We would say that TDP has been a success. TDP has led to an improvement in landlord-tenant relations as one of the potential bones of contention is open to resolution," said Simon Gordon, NLA spokesman. "We do believe that it has clarified the situation and made things clearer for landlord and tenant," he added. The NLA sponsors TDP scheme Mydeposits, which recently revealed that in the first year of TDP it protected around 200,000 deposits. ![]() |
