Stoke-on-Trent property value rising

Stoke-on-Trent is managing to buck the trend of sharply falling house prices across the country as the area enjoyed a rise in house prices throughout September.

Land Registry figures show that the average home in Stoke-on-Trent rose by 0.5 per cent throughout the month, putting the price at £91,766.

Still far below the national average price of £168,814, property in Stoke-on-Trent may appeal to first-time buyers.

However, despite the good news Stoke-on-Trent and a handful of areas similar to it are the exceptions which prove the rule of volatility in the housing market.

As such, a high proportion of first-time buyers will no doubt be tempted instead to rent a property until the housing market regains some stability.

Britain's second-largest home lettings agent recently reported a 50 per cent rise in demand for rental properties throughout 2008, suggesting that there is certainly a reluctance to move into privately-owned accommodation at present.
