Southbank the 'new Notting Hill' experts say

Though the north London neighbourhoods of Chelsea and Belgravia may be getting all the headlines, the real action is happening just south of the Thames, according to the latest reports from the city's top estate agents.

The high-end property firm Knight Frank has revealed that the Southbank area is set to boom in the same way Notting Hill did in the mid-1990s.

While much of the property right on the river already boasts prices which wouldn't look out of place in Chelsea, in the surrounding areas, there is still the chance for young professionals and even students to rent an affordable flat and benefit from the top attractions of the Southbank.

As well as being central, the area's popularity is due largely to its top culture, not least the Tate Moden art gallery, the largest indoor art space in the world.

Likewise, renting a property near to Southwark, Borough or London Bridge means tenants are within walking distance of the Globe Theatre, the Royal Festival Hall and the National Theatre.

Just this week, the latest temporary exhibition at the Tate Modern was unveiled.

The giant crack, entitled Shibboleth, represents the 'gulf' between separate cultures, the artist has revealed. ADNFCR-1219-ID-18310308-ADNFCR
