| Legendary punk band the Sex Pistols have announced that they are to reform for a one-off gig in London later this year. The ban will appear at Brixton Academy on November 8th, their first gig together in the capital since 2003. Speaking to the NME, the band's singer and one-time celebrity jungle dweller John Lydon, said that it was the band's love of the city where they formed and made their name that motivated them to get back together for the show. "Maybe it's because we're all Londoners, but there would be no Sex Pistol without dear old London town," he said. "See you all at Brixton with proper feelings and proper people all round. From London Bridge to The Rose and Crown, all of Britain is welcome so come on down." Just recently the Beastie Boys returned to the Brixton Academy 20 years after they showcased their debut album in an infamous gig at the same venue, with numerous bands opting to play in the south London suburb due the diversity and energy of the area, factors which, alongside affordable rents, also make it extremely popular with renters. ![]() |
