Russell Crowe chooses to rent London home

Gladiator star Russell Crowe has become the latest celebrity to choose to rent rather than buy a house in London.

As with thousands of young professionals each year, the actor is due to head to the city for work, having been cast in the lead role for the forthcoming film Nottingham, a love story based around the legend of Robin Hood.

Though Crowe can no doubt afford to snap up his own home, new reports claim that he prefers the flexibility of renting, while it may also be the case that he doesn't want to make such a big financial commitment in such an uncertain market.

One source close to the actor told the Sun newspaper: "Russell is coming over to Britain filming and wanted somewhere comfortable for his family.

"The house became available after a celebrity couple pulled out of renting it."

The actor and his family will live in a large, three-floored house in the desirable area of Mayfair, complete with a swimming pool, with a monthly rent of £20,000.

Also due to star in the film is Sienna Miller, who will play Maid Marion. ADNFCR-1219-ID-18672274-ADNFCR
