| Six of London's borough councils have been recognised as among the best performing in th whole of England in a new annual report from the Audit Commission. With thousands of people moving to the capital every year and facing the difficult decision of whereabouts to look for a rented flat or house, the study has shown which councils offer residents the best services. Camden, City of London, Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster and Sutton were all given maximum marks, with the report praising their libraries, recycling services and community care. In addition, Lambeth was found to be the country's most improved borough council while 97 per cent of all the capital's boroughs were rated as improving "well" or "strongly". Councillor Merrick Cockell, chairman of London Councils, said: "It is testament to the efforts of London's councils that the capital has six of the country's best performing authorities and virtually every borough being rated as improving well or strongly. Michael O'Higgins, chairman of the Audit Commission, added: "The 2007 results show that councils continue to rise to the challenge of delivering better services for local people at better value for money." ![]() |
