Renting 'allows people to live in desirable areas' |

| The unaffordable price of property in desirable locations could be a major factor behind the booming demand for rental accommodation, it has been suggested. According to market experts, young professionals now face the prospect of living in an undesirable area in order to get a foot onto the property ladder. According to the campaigning lobby group PricedOut.org.uk, while those with £100,000 could have bought a reasonable property just five years ago, now they are being forced out of the centres of desirable cities and nice suburbs. "I completely disagree that people are being too fussy," said a spokesman for the group. "If anything people are being forced to live in places they simply don't want to be." In comparison, renting a property allows young professionals to live in more desirable areas, with better access to jobs, shops and nightlife. The comments come as figures from the Association of Residential Letting Agents show that the demand for rental property has now reached a five-year peak. ![]() |
