Renters using social networking to find flatmates

Social networking sites are becoming increasingly popular with renters looking to find new flatmates.

According to a recent report in the Observer newspaper, young professionals and students across the UK are using sites such as Facebook to find people to share rental properties with, or even to club together for a mortgage.

One young professional told the newspaper: "'I have been a Facebook addict for a while, and for me this new group is a logical way to meet people.

"People of our age and generation are used to this sort of remote networking, although it doesn't mean I would jump into something without getting to know the other person."

Just a week ago, rock star Pete Doherty and actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers became the latest celebrities to move into a rental flat together, with the pair following in the footsteps of Frank Skinner and David Baddiel. ADNFCR-1219-ID-18400456-ADNFCR
