Renters to be drawn in by south London makeover |

| One of south London's most famous suburbs is to be given a multi-million pound revamp in order to recreate its past glories. Some £256 million is to be invested into the Crystal Palace area, which will allow for a complete overhaul of the historic park there. Currently, the area is hugely popular with renters looking to take advantage of the cheaper prices offered by the suburbs yet also benefit from excellent transport links to the centre. Now, under the new plans, demand for accommodation is set to boom, with people likely to be drawn by the revamped Crystal Palace, which will be "the most prestigious building in the world", according to some local experts. Writing in the News Shopper, Sue Nagle of the local traders' association stated: "This ambitious proposal would breathe life back into the area it named, and the whole of south London, providing world-class entertainment and exhibits, education and cultural facilities." Earlier this month it was reported that plans to construct thousands of new apartments in the south London area of Battersea have been given the go-ahead by planning officials. ![]() |
