| Rental property in and around central London continues to be highly sought after, while the preparations for the forthcoming Olympics are making the east of the city increasingly more attractive to prospective tenants, it has been reported. According to the London Central Portfolio, flats and houses to rent in the areas of Westminster, Chelsea and Kensington are the most highly sort after, with these places continuing to put London on the global map as a highly desirable place to live. However, young professionals looking to rent in the capital are increasingly beginning to look east as the growing number of properties being built there continues to keep prices affordable. Commenting on central London property, Naomi Heaton, chief executive of London Central Portfolio, said: "There are very few, comparatively speaking, units to rent, whereas in the East End there are going to be thousands of units to rent So again the rental market, which is already hardening quite dramatically in the centre of London, will continue to be very sought after." As well as the Olympic developments, the east of the city is growing in popularity with young professionals due partly to the booming arts and nightlife scene of areas such as Shoreditch and Hoxton, both of which boast affordable rents alongside all the benefits of capital living. ![]() |
