Renters finding bargains in desirable Manchester neighbourhoods

The slowdown being experienced in the UK property market has given people choosing to live in Manchester the opportunity to rent accommodation in more desirable areas of the city, industry experts have reported.

As homeowners struggle to sell-up amid a nationwide feeling of economic anxiety, many are now opting to rent their properties out and even rent a place themselves as they seek a short-term financial fix.

According to the latest figures compiled by Hometrack, the Cheshire villages of Poynton and Bramhall are among the areas most affected by the credit crunch in the whole of the country, and it is here where renters may be able to pick up a bargain.

One homeowner in Poynton told the Manchester Evening News that her property has been on the market for nearly 18 months.

"I would say that we've only had around 16 viewings in all that time and have had to change estate agents three times," she said.

"We've dropped the price by £10,000 and are now considering renting it out instead of selling."

Despite well known for their peacefulness, the suburbs of Cheshire are just a 20-minute ride into Manchester city centre. ADNFCR-1219-ID-18552178-ADNFCR
