Rental demand keeping market buoyant |

| More and more people are choosing to rent rather than buy a house and this is set to support the buy-to-let market in 2008. Despite the troubles of the global credit crunch, which have seriously affected the buy-to-let mortgage market, landlords are still expected to do well this year. It is because so many people are turning to rented accommodation as they see it as better value and more convenient. A spokesperson for The Business Mortgage Company, said that 2008 should be a good year for landlords. "The key factors driving the buy-to-let market are still strong. There are rising levels of tenant demand as people wait to see what happens in the housing market before purchasing," she commented. "Generally the market should continue to perform well during 2008," added the spokesperson. The global credit crunch has affected potential first-time buyers through a reduced number of available mortgages and increased rates, leading to more people turning to rented accommodation. ![]() |
