Professionals advised of benefits of short-term lets |

| Professionals moving to London for a short length of time should look to short-term rental accommodation rather than opting to stay in a hotel in the city, property experts have advised. In addition to the fact that hotel rooms can often be hard to come by in the capital, particularly around Christmas time or a high-profile sporting event such as Wimbledon, renting also offers significant financial benefits. Writing in the Times, Ed Philips of Foxtons added: "The massive advantage for the tenant is that you don't have to commit for more than you need to. "The majority of short lets are for three months, but you do get film lets that last for just a couple of days - for example, if a company is shooting an advert, or if they are doing a one-off drama and they need a period property." Even for rental periods of just a few weeks, tenants still enjoy the same rights as those on six-month or year-long contracts, though experts advise that, in most cases, the full rent for the period is paid up-front. Earlier this month the London Housing Federation reported that, with house prices continuing to rise, demand for rental accommodation in London is currently soaring. ![]() |
