Police issue advice to prospective student tenants |
11 2008 |
| Police have started issuing advice to students starting to look for rental accommodation for the next academic year. Given that most of these prospective tenants will have never had any previous experience of the rental accommodation sector, universities and police forces across the country are now teaming up to issue guidance and advice before any contracts are signed. As well as considering the general condition and maintenance issues surrounding a prospective property, would-be renters are also advised to consider factors such as the safety and security of a house or flat. "Ask someone you know that owns a property with you and seek advice from your student's union/university housing services about any queries you may have," a spokesman for West Midlands Police told icCoventry.co.uk. Earlier this month the Association of Residential Letting Agents reported that rising student numbers were behind the confidence that many of its members currently have in the rental accommodation market. ![]() |
