Plans unveiled for new luxury rental accommodation in Chelsea

Plans for one of London's most luxurious property developments have finally been unveiled.

While it was announced that the Chelsea Barracks were to be converted into a number of apartments to rent or buy back in January, only now have the exact details of the new development been made available.

The £1 billion makeover will also see the former army base, which is located close to Sloane Square and the River Thames, become home to a boutique hotel, a spa complex and two restaurants.

In addition, there will be a park with public access while the designers, Nick and Christian Candy, plan to plant hundreds of trees across the site.

The plans also show that a number of the 683 new apartments will be "affordable" for those on an average wage working in London.

The borough of Kensington and Chelsea is currently the most expensive place to rent in the whole of the UK, though many professionals opt to save money by living in the suburb of Battersea, just across the river. ADNFCR-1219-ID-18546124-ADNFCR
