NLA: Tenants expect high-quality properties |
27 2008 |
| A leading figure at the National Landlords Association (NLA) has issued a host of recommendations to landlords to attract tenants to their properties. Head of communications Simon Gordon has explained that with so many young professionals now looking to rent, tenants expect high standards from prospective properties. He particularly cited the need for landlords to ensure they have modern bathrooms and kitchens to keep themselves afloat in the competitive buy-to-let market. He said: "Many landlords are noticing that tenants increasingly have higher standards when it comes to the type of property they rent. "This means that landlords often find that they need to make improvements to their properties in order to attract tenants. "Modern bathrooms and kitchens are often attractive and many tenants prefer to rent somewhere with wooden flooring." According to the Private Landlords Survey in 2006, 22 per cent of landlords considered their property to be in an 'excellent condition'. A further 56 per cent of properties were rated as 'good', 16 per cent as 'fair' and just three per cent as 'poor' or 'very poor'. ![]() |
