NLA welcomes report on private rental sector |

| The National Landlords Association (NLA) has welcomed a new select committee report into the supply of rented housing. Many young professionals now have numerous reasons for not wanting to buy and live in their own homes, meaning renting is becoming increasingly popular. And the NLA - the UK's leading representative body for landlords - is pleased to see the aspirations of this section of society are being recognised. Chairman David Salusbury said: "Rented housing should not be seen as second-best. According to government figures, 81 per cent of tenants are on good terms with their landlords and it is good to see that the significant contribution landlords make to the housing mix has once more been acknowledged." In addition, the report showed that 71 per cent of tenants were either fairly or very satisfied with their landlords. Salusbury also urged local councils to use their powers to punish the minority of landlords who provide an unsatisfactory service to their customers. The NLA provides a comprehensive range of benefits to around 14,000 individual landlords across the UK. ![]() |
