| London's cultural diversity has been once again celebrated with Leicester Square premier of the film Brick Lane. Based on the best-selling book of the same name, the film depicts life growing up in London's East End. While the Brick Lane area has long been associated with the Bangladeshi community, it is now probably best known as being home to the finest Indian restaurants in the capital as well as boasting affordable accommodation close to the heart of the city, making it highly popular among students and young workers looking to rent a flat in London. Speaking at the premier of the film, director Sarah Gavron said: "We are delighted to have a film about multicultural Britain at the London Film Festival. "London is a special place for this film. The East End is a few miles away from where we are and it is important to get a glimpse of life there." ![]() |
