New Chichester homes move one step closer |

| Plans for dozens of new homes in the historic town of Chichester have moved a step closer to becoming a reality after planning authorities recommended that the proposed scheme be approved. With demand for rental accommodation across the south-east of England set to remain strong over 2008, news that 86 apartments are to be constructed along the canal towpath in the historic town will be welcomed by both professionals working in Chichester as well as those who regularly commute to London or Brighton. In addition to the construction of new properties, the multi-million pound scheme will also ensure that the canal basin is given a much-needed facelift, with councillors keen that any work is kept in character with the rest of the town. Earlier this month a report from Alliance & Leicester revealed that 71 per cent of landlords in the south-east of England feel that the prospects for the rental market remain good, due largely to the steady demand for properties in the region. ![]() |
