Manchester sports '30 years ahead' of London |

| Sports enthusiasts renting a property in Manchester are better off than their counterparts in the south of the country when it comes to facilities, Lord Coe has claimed. According to the double Olympic gold medallist, who is now in charge of the London 2012 Games, the city is "30 years ahead of London, making the capital a poor relation". He said: "You have any number of facilities that most Londoners would give their right arms for. I talk as a proud northerner, if you like, because Sheffield was my home town. "One thing I know is that Sheffield, Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool have had sports strategies and facilities they have built which are 30 years ahead of what we have in London." Alongside affordable rental accommodation, Manchester also boasts a world-class aquatics centre, the City of Manchester stadium and a velodrome, making it an attractive destination for those looking to make a move.  |
