Manchester 'sky village' gets the green light |

| Thousands of new rental flats are to be constructed 'in the sky' above Manchester. Plans for a 'skyscraper village' to be built at the Castlefield end of Deansgate have now been given the go-ahead by city officials, with five new residential towers to create a new neighbourhood by the riverside. In addition to the new accommodation to rent or buy, the new scheme will also boast a stylish gym, a mini-amphitheatre, a swimming pool and a number of new shops, restaurants and bars. Furthermore, the new towers will also boast rooftop private gardens for residents, giving them the chance to enjoy living in the centre of the city while also benefiting from green space. Work will begin on the new towers later this year, the developers behind the project have confirmed. The news comes as work begins on what will be Manchester's tallest building, the 60-storey Piccadilly Tower, which should go some way towards meeting the booming demand for rental accommodation in the city. ![]() |
