Manchester marina work kicks off

Work has begun on the construction of a new marina in the Droylsden area of Greater Manchester.

The £100 million project will see the creation of almost 100 new three and four-bedroom houses alongside 291 one and two-bedroom apartments.

In addition, the revamped waterfront district will feature a host of restaurants, shops and leisure facilities, making the marina ideal for young professionals looking to rent a luxury apartment within easy commuting distance of Manchester city centre.

Commenting on the development, Tameside councillor Keiran Quinn told the Manchester Evening News: "We're delighted to reach this milestone. This is a key stage in the development and so far everything is going to plan.

"The work on the marina will become a major tourism pull for the area."

The development is taking place as Salford continues to be redeveloped ahead of the opening of 'Media City' which will see thousands of new rental properties constructed for BBC workers. ADNFCR-1219-ID-18367581-ADNFCR
