| Salford looks set to attract some of the UK's brightest IT professionals as its aims to transform itself into "the new Silicon Valley". Speaking at the annual Television for the Nations and Regions conference at the world-famous Lowry Centre, Brian Greasley, the director of mediacity:uk said that the coming years will see a 'seismic shift' in UK media, with thousands of jobs to be created in Salford. As well as the BBC moving to the city in 2010, Salford and Manchester will also benefit from a booming IT sector, with thousands of professionals and students expected to be attracted by thousands of new jobs, affordable accommodation and a vibrant cultural scene. Mr Greasley also added that the new media city will boast dozens of new bars and green spaces, making it a desirable place to live and work. "The city will be focussed on creating a community that allows people to live and work in the future landscape and have the necessary social facilities needed to stimulate ideas, talent and creativity," he said. ![]() |
