London's transport 'the best in the world' |
05 2007 |
| Though at times it may seem hard to believe, London has the world's best public transport, according to a new survey. Travellers questioned by TripAdvisor were asked to rate how easy and enjoyable it was to get around a number of the world's major cities. The UK capital was seen as having the safest public transport system, the best Metro or subway system and the best taxis in the world. In terms of cleanliness, London came fourth, behind the transport systems of Washington DC, Tokyo and Paris. The ever-improving transport system in the city is allowing young professionals to commute into the city centre for work while renting accommodation in one of the more affordable suburbs. In addition, London is unofficially the best city in the world for the 'come as a tube stop' fancy-dress party theme, while also boasting the Circle Line pub crawl, meaning that it's not just about getting to and from the day job. ![]() |
