London's theatres to open their doors for free

London's best theatres and concert halls are to open their doors to curious residents who would like a look behind the scenes for a limited time only.

Following on from the success of last year's Open Rehearsal festival, the 2007 event, which will take place between Thursday 27th September and Tuesday 3rd October, has been expanded.

Not only will visitors to the Barbican Centre get to sit in on an orchestra practicing or those nipping into the South Bank be able to see the city's finest actors get to grip with their lines, but they will be able to wander around the West End looking for commercial and non-commercial venues which have signed up for the scheme and pop their heads in for a bit.

The best part its that it's all free, meaning that Londoners who can often struggle to come up with the price of a ticket to a top show can take in all the major productions the city has to offer.

The Wigmore Hall and Dance Umbrella will also be opening their doors in order to offer the opportunity to see some of London's lesser-known venues and some of its more specilaised acts. ADNFCR-1219-ID-18296578-ADNFCR
