London's East End gets early Olympic boost

Students and professionals renting in the east of London have been given a boost with the early opening of a new cycling circuit.

Coming as Team GB is enjoying particular success on the cycle tracks of Beijing, the £4.5 million Redbridge Cycle Circuit is the first stage in the construction of an improved infrastructure in the east of the capital in time for the 2012 games.

Boris Johnson, London's mayor, welcomed the new initiative, stating that it will help to make the city even more attractive and enjoyable to live in.

"One of my key ambitions as mayor is to see London become a real cycling city by encouraging the estimated 1.1 million Londoners who own bikes but don't use them regularly to get back in the saddle," he added, speaking to the BBC.

As well as the excellent career opportunities offered by the Canary Wharf business area, professional tenants renting in the east of London can also enjoy a booming cultural scene, with the O2 Arena having established itself as one of the capital's best entertainment venues.
