| London's famous 'theatreland' has scooped a host of awards at a new ceremony, highlighting the city's booming cultural scene. In particular, the current West End production of Macbeth, which is currently one of the hottest tickets in the world, claimed two top prizes, with Patrick Stewart being named as the best actor by the Evening Standard judging panel. Commenting on his award, the former Star Trek star said: "It's wonderful, we're all aglow. "All of us who believe the best possible theatre should be in London are thrilled." However, the rest of the top prizes were shared out between a number of plays and venues across the city, highlighting the diversity of the capital's arts scene, a major draw for young professionals. Earlier this week the Association of Residential Letting Agents revealed that 72 per cent of letting agents in London have reported a rise in demand for rental accommodation over the past six months, with the city's nightlife as well as career opportunities popular with both young professionals and students alike. ![]() |
