Londoners to be allowed behind the scenes at British Library |

| Given the choice, most students wouldn't spend their free time in a library. However, the new tours being offered by London's centre of learning, the British Library, may change the attitude of some. Starting this week, free tours of the library's centre for conservation will be given every Thursday at 2pm, giving visitors a chance to see how the experts there preserve some of the oldest books and manuscripts known to man. The library states the tours "will provide an insight into traditional methods of book conservation, such as the use of glue made from sturgeon with early manuscripts." In addition, the library also hosts regular talks and exhibitions, with the best news being that most of the events are totally free, once again proving that living in London needn't be greatly expensive. Situated near to Euston Station, the British Library is perfectly located for those students looking to rent a flat near to the city's main universities while the nightlife of the West End or Camden Town are only a few minutes away once school's out. ![]() |
