Londoners 'spoilt for choice' when it comes to outdoor spaces, Mayor explains

People living and working in London are among the luckiest in Europe when it comes to the amount of parks and open spaces they are able to enjoy, mayor Boris Johnson has explained.

Speaking as part of the capital's current 'Great Outdoors' campaign, organized by Visit London, Mr Johnson explained that, wherever people choose to rent or work, they are never far away from somewhere to relax when the weather is nice.

"You don't have to leave London to get away from it all - Londoners are spoilt for choice when it comes to parks and open spaces," he said.

"From Mitcham Common in the South to Friary Park in the North, our city is full of village greens, heaths, piazzas, squares and gardens."

To celebrate the campaign, a special 'Outdoor Office' has been unveiled in the popular St James's Park, right in the centre of the city and close to Buckingham Palace.

Workers have been invited to leave their normal desks and make use of the Wi-Fi, work stations, board room and water cooler, in the park, and take in the sun while they carry on with their jobs.
