Londoners paying some of the world's highest rents |

| Renters in London are paying a high price for enjoying the benefits of living in one of the world's most exciting cities. New figures published by the Swiss banking group UBS reveal that renters in London face the highest living costs compared to those in any other major capital in the world, including Moscow, Tokyo and Paris. In comparison, those living in Zurich have the most left over once their rent has been accounted for. Other pricey cities include Dublin and the Danish capital of Copenhagen, though, as with London, the latter's high living costs are partly offset by healthy wages. The study took into account 71 of the world's cities, while other previous studies have also shown that Londoners can expect some of the best career prospects and salaries in all of Europe. In comparison, the depreciation of the dollar has seen the cost of living in US cities such as New York fall for Europeans and growing numbers of professionals renting in London are opting to head to the Big Apple for shopping and leisure. ![]() |
