London Late line-up announced

Moving out of home and into a renting a flat in the big city has many advantages, not least as it does away with any night-time curfew, which is handy as the new Lates Across London season is about to get underway.

Following on from a hugely successful first season back in May, a host of institutions will be opening their doors well after working hours and putting on a range of special events.

The National Gallery, Tate Modern and Tate Britain, British Museum and The Barbican are among the big names signed up for it, though a host of smaller galleries will be taking part on a much more irregular basis over October.

Among the highlights is the Dark and Digital night at the Victorian and Albert museum where, instead of competing for space with tourists and schoolchildren, visitors will be given torch-lit tours of the galleries, complete with music and storytelling for grown-ups.

For those who want to stay up really late, then the BFI IMAX cinema is holding a Bourne trilogy all-nighter, though coffee will be served between the instalments of action. ADNFCR-1219-ID-18313563-ADNFCR
