Leona Lewis 'can't afford a house'

Britain's biggest selling debut artist and star of X-Factor is renting her home because she cannot afford to buy her own property, it has emerged.

Leona Lewis claims she does not have enough money put away to buy her first home despite recently signing a £5 million record contract.

But her family says that the young recording artist sees very little that of money, reports the Sunday Mirror.

Jo Lewis, her father, told the paper: "It's a myth Leona is some millionaire, rolling in money. Even if she wants to, Leona can't afford to buy a house yet.

"She earns enough to live on, but that's it. She did get a multi-million-pound contract but that is used by the record company for producing the album and promoting it."

According to Diane Saatchi, a broker for The Corcoran Group, celebrity homebuyers are more likely to live in a home that is not visible from the road.

Many youngsters up and down the country are, like Leona, choosing to rent buying is proving too expensive.
