Legendary Soho club re-opened after facelift

One of London's most famous nightclubs, Madame Jo Jo's has just been re-opened after being given a flamboyant facelift.

The club, which is located in the heart of the Soho district in the West End, was re-launched with a party featuring some of the city's best DJs and a host of burlesque performers.

As befitting a traditional art-deco venue, the walls are now covered with the vintage designs of Australian artist Florence Broadhurst, who was influenced by the decadent nightlife of the 1920's.

The club is located just round the corner from the former flat of the political philosopher Karl Marx who famously spent several years enjoying the Soho scene after being evicted from Chelsea for failing to pay his rent.

While the district may now boast high rents, with flats above its many bars and cafes hugely popular among high-flying media professionals, the excellent transport links from the West End to other parts of the city means that even hard-up students can make the most of the Soho nightlife.
