Lazy Londoners shown the way to the park |

| London's laziest residents are to be prescribed maps showing the city's many parks by their doctors in an effort to encourage them to get fit. Already surgeries in the areas of Islington, Wandsworth and Haringey have signed up to the scheme, which will see doctors telling their patients to make use of their local green spaces to exercise and loose excess weight. Both Sports England and the environmental group Natural England have given their support to the scheme. The proximity to one of London's many parks continues to be a major factor for many of those looking to rent a flat or house in the city. As well as offering a cheap alternative to signing up to a gym, they can also serve as an occasional back garden for those renting flats with no green spaces while many also boast sporting facilities, including outdoor swimming pools and football pitches, as well as cafes and even zoos. ![]() |
