Landlords working to attract foreign renters |

| Landlords and letting professionals are starting to advertise their rental properties in a number of languages in order to meet the strong demand from immigrants, it has been reported. According to the latest government statistics, there are currently around 700,000 Polish workers now living in the UK, with the vast majority of these opting to rent affordable accommodation. Given that some immigrants have a limited grasp of the English language, landlords are now advertising their properties in several languages, meaning renters are less likely to be duped into signing up to sub-standard accommodation. Katrina Sudnik, 25, whose father Zdzislaw Sudnik, 56, is the chairman of the Polish Community Association, told the London Evening Standard "It is a positive step. Some Polish people don't know what they are entering into when they are renting homes. "They can pay high prices and can be taken advantage of. "My dad has helped look after Poles over the last 15 years because they are taken advantage of. It is quite nice for the letting agency to write a sign in Polish." In addition to the strong influx of renters from overseas, the growing student population across the UK is also fuelling the booming rental sector, experts have stated. ![]() |
