Landlords unaware of digital TV responsibilities |

| A large number of renters across the UK could miss out on digital television as their landlords are unaware of the actions they need to take in order to implement the switchover, a new study has revealed. With the roll out of digital television to kick off next year and to be completed by 2012, research by the National Landlords Association (NLA) has found that two-thirds of landlords do not know what steps they need to take to ensure their properties have the required technology in place. In addition, of the one third of landlords who were found to be aware of their responsibilities, just 52 per cent had already taken the necessary measures to make sure the digital switchover is successfully implemented. According to David Salusbury of the NLA, landlords who rent out properties with a communal television system have a responsibility to make sure they take action to implement the change, with digital television considered one of the "basic services" they are required to provide their tenants with. ![]() |
