Landlords confident renting will remain popular

Private landlords across the UK are confident that demand for rental accommodation will remain strong over the coming months and years, new figures suggest.

Of those landlords questioned in a recent study carried out by the Money Centre, 26 per cent said they plan on staying in the market indefinitely, while more than half aim to hold onto their rental properties for at least another ten years.

In comparison, just 17 per cent of landlords said that they plan on leaving the sector within the next five years.

Lynsey Sweales, marketing and PR director of the Money Centre, said: "2008 is likely to offer opportunities for investors who can capitalise on the uncertainty in the market and continued rental demand."

A rising student population, increasing numbers of immigrants and property prices which remain unaffordable for prospective buyers have all been cited as reasons for the current strength of the rental property sector.ADNFCR-1219-ID-18464038-ADNFCR
