Hollywood stars set to move on quiet Manchester suburb |

| A quiet village in Greater Manchester is set to be overrun by Hollywood stars over the next few months as it becomes the location for a new blockbuster film on the life of the Bronte sisters. Delph, which is on the outskirts of Oldham, has become increasingly popular over recent years with professionals looking to rent in the countryside and commute into nearby Manchester city centre. Now, however, the local tenants are likely to include actresses and directors as the filming of Bronte begins this spring. Among the locations to be used will be the St Thomas Friarmere church, which will stand in for the chapel where the father of the sisters worked as a curate, while the nearby Saddleworth Moor, which has been used in numerous films and television shows, will also feature prominently. Commenting on the village, producers from AMC Pictures noted: "It's pretty grim when it's cold, wet and windy. But it's a gorgeous setting on a sunny day, the perfect place to go back a few centuries." However, it is likely that the film's stars, such as John Hurt, Kristen Scott Thomas and Evan Rachel Wood will follow the example of growing numbers of professionals in the north and rent in the centre of Manchester. ![]() |
