Harvest-time in deepest London |
20 2007 |
| Living in the middle of the biggest city in Europe, it can be easy to forget our rural roots indeed, a significant proportion of London youngsters have never seen a cow never mind a tomato field. However, over the weekend, the countryside will be coming to the city in the shape of the Harvest Festival taking place in Camberwell. Long seen as an attractive place for young professionals to rent due to its affordable housing and good links to the centre and often associated with another type of 'Camberwell Carrot', the south-east London suburb will play host to representatives from a number of city farms as well as enthusiasts from local allotments who will be showcasing their produce. As well as over-sized marrows to admire and goats to pet, visitors to the one-day event, to be held in SE5's Myatt's Fields will be able to admire a range of pastoral art and learn how to get back to basics in the kitchen. ![]() |
