Fab Four's flat up for sale |

| A flat once rented by The Beatles has been put on the market fro £1.75 million. John, Paul, George and Ringo rented the three-bedroom property in Mayfair in the autumn of 1963 after it became impossible to stay in hotels because masses of screaming fans would congregate outside. The top-floor flat in Green Street was specially picked by then-manager Brian Epstein and is unique for being the only house which all four Beatles shared together. However, before long Paul had moved out to live with Jane Asher, his girlfriend at the time; John rented another property in London with his first wife Cynthia, and George and Ringo moved into a flat together in Knightsbridge. "The current owner lives in California and inherited the flat from a relative. He has used it periodically as a pied-a-terre," estate agent Peter Bevan told the Press Association. "The property has been remodelled to give it a more contemporary layout and it now has two bedrooms. The owner is aware of its history, but hasn't turned it into a Beatles shrine or anything like that." The flat is well-known to Beatles fans for being featured on the cover of the December 1963 edition of The Beatles Book. All four Beatles can be seen peering over a banister in the picture. ![]() |
