East London renters get further transport boost |

| People thinking of renting a property in the east of London have been given a further incentive as plans to improve the transport links serving that side of the city moved a step forward. Over the weekend, residents of the suburb of Shoreditch woke to find that a 35-metre bow-string bridge had been put into place over the High Street. According to Transport for London, the new bridge is the first step in linking the East London underground line with overground train services, a development that would make it easier for people to travel into the centre of the city as well as out into the surrounding countryside. It is expected that links to the east of the city, which is currently popular with those looking to benefit from relatively cheap rents for the capital, will further improve as it gears up to host the 2012 Olympic Games. Shoreditch has also become well-known for its arts and cultural scene as well as its vibrant nightlife over recent years, with dozens of bars and clubs having sprung up to make it one of the most popular areas among students and young professionals. ![]() |
