Docklands green regeneration plans unveiled |

| Professionals renting in the vibrant Docklands area of London look set to benefit from a new development scheme aimed at bringing greenery and wildlife to the contemporary property developments. Earlier this month it was revealed that the Wood Wharf area has been earmarked for a multi-million pound project of rejuvenation, with hundreds of new properties and around five million square feet of office space to be constructed close to the booming financial district. Now, developers have unveiled plans for ten new 'ecoislands' in the Blackwood Basin, which will sit in the water and offer a haven for wildlife and make the area even more pleasant to live in. David Tomlin, the man behind the plans, explained: "The buildings will incorporate some of the latest in green technology, such as the use of dock water for cooling. "In addition, the site will include a series of eco-islands and nature walks right on the doorstep of London's newest business district." The news comes on the back of recent comments by the mayor, whereby he suggested that a new system of cable cars could be built to link Canary Wharf with nearby Greenwich. ![]() |
