Campaign to put world-class Manchester on the global map |

| Manchester's rich cultural scene should earn it a place on a new list of the world's most exciting cities, it has been argued. Campaigners in the city are trying to get Manchester included on a forthcoming world edition of the classic board game Monopoly. While global metropolises such as New York, Paris and Tokyo have already made it onto the list, the makers have left space for two 'wildcard' entries, meaning Manchester could make the list if it gains enough support. Heading the city's campaign for inclusion is Mark Eastwood, who told the Manchester Evening News: "I think Manchester is the most up and coming city in the country and the culture can compete with anywhere internationally." In addition, Helen Martin, Monopoly's global brand director has given her support to the city's campaign. "Manchester is one the UK's most vibrant and culturally enriched cities and rightfully deserves a place on the global Monopoly board," she said. Manchester's rich cultural scene, as well as its excellent job prospects and affordable accommodation, make it one of the most popular cities in the UK among renters. ![]() |
