Brits cannot afford dream homes |
25 2008 |
| Britons have revealed what their ideal home would be, but many believe that they will never be able to live in it due to the current financial difficulties. It perhaps suggests that people should be considering renting rather than buying as this may help them to achieve their aim of living in the perfect house. According to the survey by Legal & General, the ideal property would have country features. It would be positioned by the sea or in the countryside and most Britons would like to live in a village rather than an urban area. The most popular regions are Cornwall, Devon, Greater London, Surrey and Yorkshire, with all five receiving an equal vote as the ideal place to live. However, the study also highlighted that many people do not believe they will ever be able to afford to buy their dream home. "Probably reflecting financial concerns, the number of Brits who do not expect to ever live in their dream home has risen from just over 20 per cent to 30 per cent since the last survey," said Garry Skelton from Legal & General. ![]() |
