Brighton tenants reminded of deposit protection |

| Tenants in Brighton have been left out of pocket after a letting agency in the city ceased trading with no notice. According to the Brighton Argus, Farrells shut up shop last week without informing the tenants or the landlords they represent. However, despite the office being empty and calls being unanswered, some tenants have still had their monthly rents taken out, prompting an investigation by the city's authorities. "It's pretty bad really," one tenant told the newspaper. "You would think they would at least put a sign up saying what the situation is." This latest case once again highlights the need for tenants to make sure they have sufficient legal protection against landlords and letting agents, with recent studies showing that a worrying number of people are still unaware of the Tenancy Deposit Scheme. ![]() |
