Brighton gears up for summer of festivals

Tens of thousands of music fans are expected to head out onto the streets of Brighton as the city hosts two of the country's most eagerly-anticipated music festivals over the next few months.

Brighton's buzzing arts and culture scene has long been a major draw for students and young professionals, pushing demand for affordable rental accommodation skywards.

Now it is thought that as many as 30,000 people from outside the city will flock to the first-ever Beachdown Festival, to be hosted over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Among the acts already lined up for the event, which will be held on the sprawling South Downs, are Jazzy Jeff, Reverend and the Makers and The Maccabees, and it has also been confirmed that special free buses will operate between the city centre and the site.

In addition, the city's population will be further swelled by the 20,000-strong crowd heading to the extreme sports and music festival ay Stamner Park over the same weekend.ADNFCR-1219-ID-18541925-ADNFCR
